This is why Asperger’s Syndrome relationships can be difficult for people. There is lots of ways in which people on the autism spectrum can enjoy a healthy relationship be it friendly or romantic. But on the flip side there are also some common struggles that can impact the relationship and cause issues in one way or an other. Here I am exploring 3 facts about relationships and autism that you may find very useful. 1.Emotional Communication issues People on the autism spectrum have major issues communicating their emotions to other people, which creates a lot of difficulties when in relationships where there needs to be open emotional communication. 2.Empathy The ability to understand how another person is feeling, almost like putting yourself in someone else shoes. This is somewhat of a miss with lots of people on the autism spectrum and can cause a lot of issues when in relationships for obvious reasons. 3.Short Term Memory It is no new finding to know that people on the autism spectrum have issues with short term memory problems. But this can cause huge issues when in a relationship when trying to remember to do small things that make a relationship a working partnership. Please leave a comment if you have anything to add.
