5 Athletes With Autism YOU Should SEE! (AMAZING)

Here are 5 athletes with autism that will SHOCK YOU! Autism is classed as a hidden or invisible disability and for this matter it is hard to know who is on the spectrum or not in a public setting. I have found these 5 amazing autistic athletes who will blow you away with how awesomely skilled they are. So here are 5 athletes with autism that you probably didn’t know about! 1. Jim Eisenreich – Major League Baseball Player He started playing in 1982 and played his Rookie season for the Minnesota Twins. Eisenreich suffered from uncontrollable tics and twitches, common symptoms of a then-misunderstood Tourette’s Syndrome. Although well-known for his Tourette’s Syndrome, he is also on the Autism Spectrum with his later diagnosis of Asperger’s. Eisenreich withdrew from MLB in 1984 due to his uncontrollable tics, and sought the help of medical professionals. 2. Jason McElwain – Basketball Player Jason McElwain, nicknamed J-Mac (born October 20, 1988), is an American amateur athlete in both basketball and marathon and public speaker with High-functioning autism. McElwain came to fame on national news in 2006, when he shocked the world playing in a high school basketball game and scored twenty points. He was diagnosed with autism at the age of two years 3. Jessica-Jane Applegate – Swimmer Diagnosed with autism at secondary school Jessica-Jane is a para-Olympian . Notably famous as she became the first British S14 swimmer to stand at the top of the Paralympic podium at London 2012. 4. Armani Williams – Racecar Driver Williams is notable for being the first NASCAR driver (openly) diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Diagnosed at age two, Williams is on the autism spectrum and spoke his first word at three years old. He did have some social interaction and sensory issues growing up, as other people on the spectrum do, but quickly learned to improve and overcome them with the help of his parents. 5. Clay Marzo – Surfer This surfer was formally diagnosed with Asperger when he was 18 years old. Even though someone may think that this prevented him from doing sports, he proved everyone wrong by becoming master on the surfboard and earning a reputation in the surfing world. Despite his difficulties to hold a conversation, to maintain eye contact, to develop relationships and to answer even some basic questions he is now considered to be one of the world’s best free surfers who found his solace and peace in the water. If you have anything to add to this conversation please pop it in a comment below. I read every single comment os it is never wasted. Follow @TheAspieWorld for more autism content.
