Aspergers Syndrome is am autism spectrum disorder that is characterised by it’s interesting traits like, lack of eye contact, obsessive interests and love of routines.
It is also regarded as a lower support needs level of an autism diagnosis. To look deeper into this I have listed 7 interesting things about the condition below.
1.Name Change:
Aspergers Syndrome had an official name change to Autism Spectrum Disorder in 2013
2.History
Aspergers is named after the main researcher in this field, a man called Hans Asperger.
3.Aspergers vs Autism
Aspergers and autism are the exact same condition, it’s just a way of labelling a level of support needs.
4.High Functioning Autism
Often people refer to Aspergers as High Functioning Autism.
5.Aspergers Doesn’t Exist
Aspergers didn’t stop existing after it’s name change in 2013, it simple had a different name given to it.
6.Not In Females?
Aspergers Syndrome is and was diagnosable in females as females are not exempt from autism.
